There is currently no evidence to suggest that gabapentinoids are effective. Furthermore, the associated adverse events do not seem to justify its prescription in this group. This systematic review generally supports current NICE guidance on this topic. The gray area, however, is people with associated sciatica. The studies included in this review could not differentiate whether they may benefit. GPs and clinical bcommissioning groups may want to consider reviewing the local use of gabapentinoids in people with chronic low back pain.
